Joseph Lopez

On Saturday March 14th, the universe suffered a tremendous loss as one of our own, Joseph Lopez, left this world in a tragic accident.

Joseph and his father Jose Lopez joined our community together in January of 2018. Since day one, they were always together in the gym working out side by side and cheering each other on. Their relationship was more than father/son, they were best friends. CrossFit was a big part of Joseph’s life. Joseph always came to the gym with a smile on his face. He was humble and had a growth mindset. Always asking questions, wanting to learn as much as he could and ready to complete any task at hand in all aspects of his life. You couldn’t help but notice Joseph’s positive attitude and determination as you watched him work hard and progress day after day. His biggest and most proud moments being when he got his first muscle-up, which soon after became his favorite movement.

Joseph’s father Jose shared with us the memory of the first time Joseph did Murph (2018) and his hands started to hurt after the first 5 pull-ups. He had forgot his hand wraps and instead of stopping to grab them and put them on, he kept pushing himself to the point of ripping his hands. He laughed and despite the pain he powered through completing the workout, ripped hands and all!

Joseph was one of the warmest, shining stars of a human within our community. He had the biggest smile and was always laughing and enjoying life. We will all miss him. We will unfortunately never be as brightly lit as we were by Joseph’s presence.

Our deepest condolences go to Jose, Nora, Rebecca and the rest of the family.

We love you Joseph. Rest easy.
