Jackie Lillard
Jackie Lillard is our member of the month for December! Jackie works hard every week during our Golden Hour class and inspires anyone who gets the opportunity to coach her or workout with her. Jackie has a positive attitude and continuously pushes her limits at the things she is amazing at (a notable achievement includes a triple deadlift at 140lb, which is well over her body weight) while also working hard on things that don’t come as naturally to her (she is so incredibly close to a strict pull up).
When we asked Angela, Jackie’s partner in WODing to describe Jackie her response was, “She just such an inspiration and proof that getting old doesn’t mean you have to quit. You can be strong and vibrant” We couldn’t agree more. Congrats Jackie!
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I have been doing CrossFit for 4 yrs.
What got you hooked on CrossFit?
When I was looking for a gym, my children and grandchildren – who all do CrossFit – encouraged me to join a CrossFit gym. After I got over the initial intimidation I was hooked! Best workouts I have ever done!
What is your favorite movement?
Burpees…haha NOT! I really like working with weights especially doing deadlifts. I also like front and back squats.
Do you have any current goals you are trying to attain?
My main goal is to stay healthy and as fit as possible so I can remain flexible with good mobility. These things deteriorate as one ages which is probably why some movements are awkward for me. You, Lauren, and all the other coaches are so patient with me and always helping me perfect what does not come naturally. You are all phenomenal and I so appreciate all of you!
I would also, one day, hope to master the strict pull-up!
Do you have any advice for someone starting out in CrossFit?
There is the old cliche “Just do it”! That would be my advice. I know it can be intimidating. If you join CrossFit 858 you will be joining an amazing, caring family. The coaches are always there to help you in the most positive way and the members look out for and always encourage one another. There is nothing you can not do because everything can be scaled to your ability! You will be amazed at what you can do…and you will feel so so good at what you accomplish!
Fun Fact(s):
I was a flight attendant when flying was fun, the seats were roomy and comfortable with plenty of legroom and meals were served with drinks including alcohol… and it was all free!
I lived in South Africa for 10 yrs where my 3 children were born. My oldest son is an adrenaline junkie who has taken many years off my life!
I have no doubts that thanks to the prayers of my middle son, who is a Roman Catholic Priest, my oldest son is still with us!
My youngest is my beautiful daughter who has blessed me with 3 amazing grandchildren. She also manages to get up at 5 am to go to CrossFit (in CO) before going to work most mornings.

Israel Gonzales
Israel’s photography has been a huge value add to our gym. Members love seeing his pictures and posting them to social media. We appreciate his commitment to every Friday Night Lights – he always showed up early and often times was one of the last to leave. Furthermore, despite how busy he is with the hustle and grind of an entrepreneur, he still manages to consistently make it in to the gym and prioritize his health. Congrats Israel!

The community, constant change of workouts and movements. Alongside being able to continue to learn new things to this day.

Clean and Jerk
Do you have any current goals you are trying to attain?
Abs, and stronger Clean and Jerk.
Do you have any advice for someone starting out in CrossFit?
Give it a chance. You’ll see how working out alongside other people makes it more fun and addicting. Plus, you’ll love the GAINS!
Fun Fact:
I’ve worked out right after eating all you can eat KBBQ. Didn’t throw up.
