At CrossFit 858, we pride ourselves on community. Often times, we can harness the power of community to do something good.
In the past we’ve given back to the greater community through hosting a Build-A-Bike event in tandem with our Christmas party and a Thanksgiving food drive to collect donations for the San Diego Food Bank. This year, we have chosen to partner with Project Purple in the fight against Pancreatic Cancer.
At the end of the Open, we will be hosting the Push/Pull for Pancreatic Cancer workout, which was designed to encourage personal fitness, raise awareness, and raise funds for pancreatic cancer. This disease has the lowest survival rate after five years of all cancers — only 9% — yet it’s also one of the least funded. There is NO early detection or cure for Pancreatic Cancer.
Leading up to the workout, we will be collecting donations via Team CrossFit 858. To add some incentive, we’re making these efforts a part of our Open competition.
