This month our Members of the Month are two people who competed in the LCR this past weekend. Say hi (and congrats!) to Seth and Andrea!
Seth Bailey – Miramar
Seth has always been one of our most consistent, hard working members to date. He is constantly putting in his best effort and aim to challenge himself with every class. Seeing the rewards now, he and fellow female member of the month Andrea took 1st at our LCR Rx division and quite honestly I can’t think of anyone else who deserved that win more than these two. Thank you for being such an integral part of our community! –
How long have you been doing CrossFit? I started Crossfit August 2011.
What got you hooked on CrossFit? I was growing bored of the same 24 hour fitness workouts. I was seeing little results and wasn’t having any fun. Crossfit has the perfect blend of variety, competitiveness and effectiveness that keeps me coming back year after year.
What is your favorite movement? I think my “best” movement is the power clean, but I enjoy the snatch the most.
Do you have any current goals you are trying to attain? Beat Mike Cox in one workout… I would love to hit 315 clean and jerk and 225 snatch.
Do you have any advice for someone starting out in CrossFit? Be prepared to be humbled. Know your physical limits but forget you mental limits. Be coachable. No matter how fit you are starting Crossfit there is always someone that can help your technique, pacing strategy, etc. It could be a member or coach but listen to the advice and be open minded.
Fun Fact: I used to dabble in stand up comedy. I’ve performed 4 times including the Comedy Store in La Jolla.
Andrea Green – Mission Gorge
Andrea crushes it every day in the gym, and everyone always comments on how she are such a hard worker. I’m always impressed by her dedication and commitment while still juggling family life, so I can’t think of anyone more deserving. To top it off she CRUSHED the LCR which just shows how all her hard work is paying off. – Coach Diana
How long have you been doing CrossFit? I’ve been Crossfitting almost 6 years and did it through both pregnancies. What got you hooked on CrossFit? I’m naturally a competitive person (surprise, surprise) so that aspect of CrossFit was super motivating for me. It pushed me harder than I had ever workout out before. I also remember when I got my first pull-up. I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy in the gym! The variability in the workouts. The friendships I have made and still have! And lastly, all the chatting that happens in the women’s only class. I get hooked over and over again too! What is your favorite movement? All of them! But mostly overhead squats! Do you have any current goals you are trying to attain? My goals mostly have to do with nutrition. I’d love to maintain where I am now sticking to my RP maintenance and adjusting as I wean Abby off breastfeeding. But specifically in the gym I would like to be able to do bar muscle-ups consistently and would be love to snatch over 110#. Do you have any advice for someone starting out in CrossFit? Stick with it! Never make excuses to not give yourself the best. Push yourself. You’re probably stronger and faster than you think. Always be proud of yourself no matter what. Pick a goal and work HARD at it because you will conquer it. Surround yourself with people who support you to be the best version of yourself. Never leave CrossFit858 Mission Gorge because we truly have the best coaches and athletes. Fun Fact: I’m really crazy about remodeling my house, projects, and also gardening. My husband says this is a fact but not very fun. |
