THANK YOU for filling out the CrossFit 858 member survey.  We received an overwhelming response with some great feedback that we will implement.  Here are some improvements:

 

1.) OPEN GYM!!!

You asked for it, now you’ll get it!! Open gym will be available BOTH during the week AND on the weekends. Utilize this time to work on a skill, a specific lift, make up a missed WOD, or try one that you haven’t done before.

Here are the open gym times, starting the week of 10/2/2011:

 Wednesdays 7pm-8pm (replaces the usual class time, feel free to also do the WOD from that day)

Saturdays 11am-12pm

2.) Foundations Classes revamped:

What is the Foundations Class?

All new members will be required to take two Foundations classes (Foundations 1 and 2) within the first 30 days of membership. The purpose of this two part class is to familiarize the new members with all fundamental lifts such as the: deadlift, clean, press, jerk, and squat. We will also be reviewing the kip and pull-up used in CrossFit.  There will also be a WOD at the end of this class to help you practice what you have learned. Existing members are also encouraged to take the Foundations class as a refresher and to help improve your form/technique.

Why do we have the Foundations Class?

As CrossFit 858 grows, there is an increasing need to balance the members’ class time between learning a technique and practicing a technique. By having new members learn the foundations of CrossFit in this class, we will be able to utilize valuable time during regular classes honing these learned skills/practicing them vs teaching the movements every class. This will allow all members a better opportunity to grow and progress every class.

What is the cost and when are the Foundations classes?

The Foundations classes are FREE to new members and will not be an extra cost as long as you attend one session of each Foundations class (Foundations 1 and 2) within the first 30 days of membership.

The foundations classes will be held every other week, each Weds 7pm-8pm and Sat 11am-12pm, starting the week of 10/2/2011.  Please refer to our Mindbody schedule.

 

3.) CrossFit 858 Referral Program SWEETENED:

Effective immediately, for every new member you refer will save you $20.00 on your next month’s dues.   There is NO LIMIT on how many referral you may have in a given month, so you could technically lower your membership dues to $0.00.

Also, each referred member will receive a CrossFit 858 Welcome Packet which sets them up with a beginner’s guide to CrossFit along with some nifty CrossFit 858 swag…

4.) SAVE THE DATE: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH, 2011

For those of you who still have the itch to compete….. you will have your chance.  A competition for BEGINNERS through INTERMEDIATE is coming soon…. Here’s an added twist:  CrossFit 858 will not be alone in this competition.  Even more fun!! Stay tuned….

Misc improvements:

  • All classes will start on the hour or at most 2 mins past.  We will no longer wait for the “stragglers” out of respect for those who show up on time or early.  Late comers will NOT be penalized with burpees…. yet
  • We will have a “Cleaning bucket” (paper towels, bleach) available for members to clean up any mess that they may have created in their areas or on the bars(blood, chalk, etc)  Puking, if it occurs, will still be outside, no puke buckets indoors 🙂
