resurrection res·ur·rec·tion (rĕz′e-rĕk′shən) noun. the act of causing something that had ended or been forgotten or lost to exist again, to be used again, etc.
There was a time when “throwdowns” were about testing where your level of fitness was at any given moment. It was about being prepared for the unknown and unknowable. It was about seeing what holes in your game could be exposed, and seeing where you would rise to the occasion. It was about testing yourself in carefully planned events…It wasn’t about preparing for weeks in advance on uncommon movements or impractical exercises just because they were in an event. It wasn’t about paying an exorbitant fee to sit around all day to complete 3, ten minute chipper AMRAPs that included everything and the kitchen sink.
It was also a time when these throwdowns were about camaraderie, both among fellow athletes of your gym AND those athletes from other gyms. It was about setting PRs in competition, setting unforgettable memories, and forming everlasting bonds among those participating.
Things have changed quite a bit and we are bringing it all back.
On November 5, 2016, we are holding “A Throwback to Throwdowns”, we are bringing it all back to square one, we are resurrecting all the glory days of competition that will carry us into the future. … we are holding “The Left Coast Rumble”. The name pays homage to two competitions that started it all like a movie classic reboot, but this is not a simple retelling of that story.
Details:
- All 3 CrossFit 858 boxes will be joined by CrossFit La Jolla and Mighty CrossFit
- Men’s and Women’s Rx and SCALED levels available
- Events will NOT be announced until the night before (movement criteria WILL be announced ahead of time)
- Left Coast Rumble will be held at CrossFit 858 Mission Gorge on Saturday November 5, 2016
- 8am start with a projected finish by 3pm
- REGISTRATION CLOSES ON 10/22/16!
Movements Needed for Rx Division:
- Unassisted Pullups (Butterfly, Kipping, or Strict)
- Squat Clean, Power OK, no minimum weight
- Russian KB Swings (70/53)
- Box Jumps
- Front Squat, no minimum weight
- Must be able to run or walk (can’t scale to rowing)
- Must be able to row
- Bar facing burpees
- Thrusters, no minimum weight
- Wall Balls
Movements Needed for SCALED Division:
- Jumping Pullups
- Squat Clean, Power OK, no minimum weight
- Russian KB Swings (53/35)
- Box Jumps, step ups are OK
- Front Squat, no minimum weight
- Must be able to run or walk (can’t scale to rowing)
- Must be able to row
- Bar facing burpees
- Thrusters, no minimum weight
- Wall Balls
